Karrier Connected Monthly Recap: Edition #5 — March
Welcome to the fifth issue of Karrier Connected, our monthly digest dedicated to sharing the latest and greatest from us at Karrier One. This March kicked off with the conclusion of our longest Zealy campaign yet, as well as began a new one. The Karrier One team has been hard at work developing the Karrier Number System (KNS), as well as preparing for Sui Basecamp.
After the release of our technical whitepaper in February, we will be releasing our fully finalized tokenomics paper in the near future. As the team has been focused on the development of Karrier One, we have decided to host a Q&A. Questions have been selected from our recent X post, as well as some from our Discord. We will begin with our Q&A, and recap March towards the end, then conclude with what April has in store for Karrier One. If we did not get to your question in this Q&A, it may have already been in answered in our discord FAQ channel. If it hasn’t, send us a message in our questions discord channel.
Q&A: Tokenomics Paper & Airdrop
Our team is currently finishing up our definitive tokenomics paper — the paper that will answer the question you are all wondering.
By far the most asked question in our Q&A has been about a $KONE airdrop, so let’s get that answered immediately.
Is an airdrop going to happen? Yes. More than one.
Some more details on the airdrop(s) will be revealed in the tokenomics paper, so sit tight until then. We aren’t forgetting about our early adopters. We have received such a warm welcome from the Sui community and we aren’t going to let it go without thanks!
Also, expect much more detail on $KONE in general, it’s use cases and role in the Karrier One ecosystem.
Q&A
Q: What is the deployment process for eSIM functionality, particularly regarding the deployment of radios in various areas to enable connectivity?
A: When we launch, we will have the ability for users to create a virtual phone number or a mobile number. The difference is eSIM will allow you to attach a number to your existing smartphone by scanning a QR code specially designed to onboard a mobile carrier (Karrier One) to your phone. Once you have that eSIM that enabled the wireless carrier package, you will automatically be able to connect to any radio deployments that exist, or any of our roaming partners if there is not radio in the specific area (which gives even more reason to build more).
Right now our radios will advertise two PLMNs, either A) Canadian PLMN for Karrier One Canada or B) US PLMN for Karrier One US. The eSIM will have a profile to search for those two networks, and if they are not in that area, it will try to roam on a partner, exactly how other MNO (Mobile Network Operators) function today. The same applies to Physical SIM cards.
Q: If we already have a phone with a current phone number, can we attach our eSIM to our phone with our current phone number? (Will we have 2 numbers?)
A: You can have two on your phone, or you can only use ours. It is your decision.
Q: What’s the plan to compete with mobile data plans in the current market?
A: More info on our phone plans will revealed closer to their release. They will have their unique advantages over traditional web2 phone plans.
Q: The current web2 telecommunications systems seem well established in most developed countries, do you have plans to make them want to partner with Karrier One and pay for roaming?
A: We will have various unique agreements with different telecom companies. They need us as much as users need us. It helps deploy a network where you don’t need to have any ownership of the radio access network (RAN).
Imagine 10 Mobile Network Operators (MNO) sharing a tower, that they each deploy their own radios on, closed to their own users, and the only reason they deploy it is because roaming is expensive. Our solution can reduce the radios needed and give all MNOs an option to utilize existing spectrum, as well as our radio network.
The other reason is that this old method of spectrum deployment takes forever, is capital expenditure heavy to the point that it becomes a problem to deploy effective networks. Imagine if no MNOs deploy any radios, there would be a decentralized coalition that deploys radios and that is neutral to all that want to utilize it. It would make a much more efficient space (not 10–20 radios in a tower but far less), as well as reduce electronic waste, provide high efficiency usage of spectrum, and guarantee higher bandwidth for all users. Densification. Having a decentralized RAN would mean anyone can use and roam on it.
Q: Is there already revenue coming from partners roaming on Karrier One in Canada?
A: Yes.
Q: When is the next AMA session?
A: We are planning one post-Sui Basecamp!
Q: What is the allocation of $KONE for Early Adopter holders?
A: Details surrounding this subject will be revealed in the tokenomics paper.
Q: When will a token launch?
A: Keep an eye out for Q2-Q3 2024!
Q: There are many established blockchains like Solana, Polygon and the rest. Why do you build on SUI?
A: While Solana and Polygon are great chains in their own rights, we believe Sui will be the ‘Apple’ of Layer 1s. If you have used the Sui network, you will notice that the user experience is far above any other Layer 1 out right now. It is incomparable!
The Karrier Number System will integrate directly with zkLogin, enabling us to build DePIN seamlessly on one of the most technologically advanced Layer 1s. If you haven’t seen, Sui’s DeFi volume & TVL are shaping up to challenge Solana, and Sui has already surpassed many of their competitors in these stats. The Sui ecosystem is flourishing greatly. Furthermore, the Sui community, Sui Foundation, & Mysten Labs are absolutely amazing. We could not ask for more supportive partners & community members to build the future of wireless with.

March Recap: Zealy Campaign, KNS Development, Legendary Pigeon Giveaway
This month, we concluded our longest & largest Zealy Campaign. We have launched a new one as well, so if you have not joined, click here.
We also held a giveaway for the 1/1 Legendary Electric Karrier Pigeon! Congratulations to @freelanceser on X!
March was filled with productivity, and we are proud of the progress we have made so far on the development of KNS, as well as the tokenomics paper. On the real-world side of things, we have two new radio deployments that we are extremely excited to show you soon!
Going Forward: Sui Basecamp, Tokenomics Paper, New Deployments
April will be one of our largest months yet — for Sui, and Karrier One. Sui Basecamp will be taking place on April 10–11 2024, and Karrier One is proud to be a sponsor.
Our core team will be attending, so if you hold an Early Adopter NFT and are at Basecamp, come find us and grab some free Karrier One merch! Our CEO Samer Bishay will also be speaking during the event! We’re looking forward to meeting everyone!
Post-Basecamp, we will be rolling out our updated tokenomics paper as well as showcasing some of our newest radio deployments. More details and dates will come, so stay updated with us on our X/Twitter.
Thank you for reading through this edition of Karrier Connected!
